Newton’s quietest village

Thompsonville is the smallest and least known of Newton’s thirteen villages — plenty of Newton residents have never heard the name. It sits between Newton Centre, Newton Highlands and Chestnut Hill, straddling Route 9, with Langley Road as its spine and Jackson Street at its historic centre. Its landmarks are institutional rather than commercial: Bowen Elementary on Langley Road and the eight-and-a-half-acre Bowen Field beside it.

Homes in Thompsonville

The name comes from a hermit called Thompson who lived in the woods south of Newton Centre toward the Worcester Turnpike, which opened in 1810; his house stood near what became the village centre. By 1867 it was a small settlement of a few families and a church. The second Thompsonville school was a two-room frame building on Langley Road in 1888, replaced in 1902 and named in 1909 for Edward B. Bowen.

Today most of Thompsonville’s housing dates from between roughly 1940 and 1969 — medium-to-large single-family homes with a layer of newer condominium and townhouse conversion on top, including The Terraces, forty-eight townhouse units built in 2003 on former woodland. That means less true Victorian plaster than West Newton or Newton Corner, and a real share of smaller modern multi-level units. Conservation land sits on two sides, so seasonal mud and pollen are a genuine factor. There is no historic district of any kind here, and no exterior-work regulation.

FAQ

House cleaning in Thompsonville: FAQ

Where exactly is Thompsonville?

Between Newton Centre, Newton Highlands and Chestnut Hill, straddling Route 9, centred roughly on Jackson Street and Langley Road. It has no ZIP code of its own — mail goes to 02459 — and no village square, which is why it is so easily missed.

Do you clean townhouses and condominiums here?

Yes. Thompsonville has a real share of newer multi-level townhouse and condominium units alongside its mid-century houses, and the two are quite different jobs.

How much does house cleaning cost in Thompsonville?

It depends on the home’s size, its condition and how often you clean. Use the estimate form on this page or call 508-561-9458 for a same-day quote — no in-home visit required.

Do you offer weekly and biweekly cleaning in Thompsonville?

Yes. Most Newton clients are on a weekly, biweekly or monthly schedule, and you can change the frequency any time with no contract.

Do you bring your own cleaning supplies?

Yes — our team arrives with the supplies and equipment needed for a thorough clean. If you prefer particular products in your home, just tell us.
